Trip Tips

Packing Tips

Because of the high altitude, the weather was mild in Bogota and Armenia, but very humid and warm in Cartagena. We were able to pack light with taking only carry on bags. Plan to dress up for high end restaurants in Bogata, and dress fun and colorful in Cartagena.

Any Travel Surprises?

After travels through Europe and the U.S., Colombia is a refreshing value. Hotels, restaurants, taxis are all very reasonable in price. I was concerned about safety, but honestly, I felt safe most of the time. Having my purse lifted off my chair from a tiny older woman is humbling!

Transportation-Caribbean Island of Providencia

Getting around the island There is no public transport and only a few taxis. Providencia is a very hilly island so walking can be tiring! The best way to explore the island is by renting a scooter for 50,000 COP per day or a golf buggy for 150,000 COP (try and negotiate a discount if you’re staying for multiple days).
