Itinerary Overview

My family and I wanted to do this trip as the countries we visited were different from the typical countries everyone visits when they go to Europe, our first and main stop was Vienna, we traveled from Bogotá to Frankfurt the trip was about 13 hours and then from Frankfurt to Vienna which was around hour and a half, at Vienna we stayed for four days, in a hotel near the center, which was a good option as we could go walking to many of the tourist spots, we did a main tour with a tour guide, I totally recommend the tour guide as Vienna is a city with a very interesting history, you can learn and get to know the culture from its background. From Vienna we took a car to Prague one of our favorite cities in the world, its like a fairytale, we´ve been in summer and now in winter and in both season is incredible, has it´s magic. We stayed at a hotel in the center of the city which was also good for walking, that way we didn’t had to take buses. We only stayed there for 2 days, and after Prague we went back to Vienna and next day in the morning went to Budapest by car which was around 3 hours long, we went just for a day, at Budapest we decided to buy tickets for the hop on hop off buses as we didn’t had much time to go by ourselves to the main touristic attractions. This buses are for tourist and they take you to each spot, it is a good alternative when you are only staying for the day in the city, the cost is around 30 euros per person, inside the bus they have headphones for listening to the story of each place you visit.

One of my favorite places in Vienna was the Hofburg, the architecture of this palace is incredible!! Seeing each detail it has is amazing, here the tour guide was with us and explained all the history of the palace, a plan we recommend 100%, other spot I personally liked a lot was the Stephen´s cathedral it has a gothic style which is very interesting seeing a different architecture from the cathedrals we are used to. A plan we totally recommend is going to the Café Sacher and eat the original Sacher torte it is a typical dessert from Vienna and the ambience of the Café is incredible.

The old town square is very pretty, seeing all the buildings around which were build many years ago is amazing, the vibe is awesome and you can eat great sausages there with an awesome cup of hot wine, as we went in winter it is a perfect plan to keep warm and cozy. The famous astronomical clock is also there and is totally worth to see the show every hour. Another must is the Prague castle, the architecture is incredible and inside the cathedral and other spots are worth seeing, the entry is free to some areas of the castle but for others you’ll have to pay, not much is like 17 euros per person. You must try the Trdelnik it’s a famous pastry you’ll find in every corner.

Our last stop was Budapest, where we didn’t stay much but we visited most of the touristic attractions and enjoy the beautiful views. The first stop was the parliament building is actually shocking seeing the incredible building, totally breathtaking. Of course we stroll around the Danube, it was quite hard as it was winter but we wanted to take the walk. About food is a must to try the beef goulash which is a very traditional dish from Hungary, here you can also find the chimney cake in every corner, delicious pastry! With hop on and hop off bus we stopped in 8 different spots, we could get down the bus and then catch another one later, awesome alternative if you don’t have much time.
