Budapest City trip

DAY 1

We start our day with a small brunch. Then, we decide to visit the House of Terror or « Terror Haza Museum » which is located in the Terézváros district. It is a museum that traces the history of Nazi and communist domination suffered by Hungary. Really quite a fascinating museum, especially when you go down to the basement to discover the bowels of the building, where so much horror was inflicted on the Hungarian victims. In the evening, we strolled through the streets and ate in a delicious Italian restaurant.

DAY 2

In the morning, we passed in front of the largest Synagogue in Europe, which is quite impressive. Then, we strolled in the pedestrian street Váci where we did some shopping.

We continued with the visit of the Great Covered Market, a building classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which made us discover the culinary specialties of Hungary but also its buffets, its crafts and its many souvenir stands.

We ended the day by going to one of the Ruins Bars. These are real institutions in Budapest that appeared in the 2000s. These bars are a must in the city and are located in abandoned buildings. Each of the Ruins Bars in Budapest has its own style and musical universe. They will necessarily mark you with their unique architecture and atmosphere ! Most are located in the Jewish quarter.

DAY 3

Today we decided to go see Buda Castle. Then we went to visit the Hungarian Parliament. It is one of the iconic monuments of the Hungarian capital because it is one of the largest in the world ! Then, near the Parliament, towards the Danube, we went to see the poignant « Shoes on the Danube », memorial dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust in Budapest.  On forty meters, metal shoes represent the thousands of Jews shot who had to remove their shoes beforehand. We ended the day with a night cruise on the Danube where we could see Buda Castle, Matthias Church, the Hungarian Parliament, the Citadel, the Gellért Hotel, etc. It was wonderful !

DAY 4

For this last day, we decided to discover the thermal baths of Budapest with the Széchenyi baths, a truly unique experience in any season ! It is one of the largest thermal establishments in Europe, it's really something to do !
