Itinerary Overview

Gdańsk If you wonder what to do in Gdansk you should definitely start with visiting the European Solidarity Center - so much history
Gdansk has so much to offer you could spend a week there! I won't be giving you recommendations to visit the beach there, as I like the beach a lot more in Sopot. Instead here are my ideas for places to visit:
- European Center of Solidarity - so much history! It is an absolute must visit if you want to learn about the birth of Solidarnosc movement and the fall of communism in Poland. The museum is so well done and the audioguides are very informative. Also, you will be in the actual place where the history took place as the museum is located in the Gdansk Shipyard area
- 100cznia - wonderful food court in th same area as the museum is. Definitely worth stopping by even if just for a quick drink
- St Mary's Basilica - I'm not too much into churches but this one is worth stepping into. It's right at the main street in the Old Town and there are some pretty spectacular organs inside. Also, if you'd like to see Gdansk from above (totally recommended), you should go to the Bugle Tower (the entrance is inside the church)
- Gdansk Old Town - get lost in the little streets filled with colourful facades of old buildings. If time allows, I recommend taking a walking tour.
- Visit the Amber Museum - and don't forget to do some shopping since Polish amber is very famous in the world
- 1939Museum - yet another fantastic museum if you're interested in the European history. The building of the museum is a piece of art in itself, worth seeing if you appreciate good architecture

Sopot Sopot has a totally different vibe than Gdansk. You get to feel like you're on a real beach vacation there and eat fish&chips
If you get to Sopot by train from Gdansk (or any other place for that matter), there's no other way to go but walk on the main pedestrian alley called Monte Cassino. You will pass a famous Crooked House on your left. If you follow the street to the end you will get to a spectacular Sopot Pier, which is the longest wooden pier in Europe. It is an absolute must visit as it's such a great place for a stroll. After the visit to the pier, I encourage you to take a stroll down the promenade by the beach.

Lodging
Montownia Lofts & Experience - a great hotel in a historical building that used to be a part of Gdansk Shipyard. The building is beautifully restored and the rooms are huge. There is a food hall on the first floor or the hotel and it's a fantastic option for lunch or dinner. On weekends there's live music there if you want to grab a drink. The part of the hotel with rooms is excellently insulated and is very quiet.
