The people in Australia are unbelievably friendly!

Australia sits closer to the top of the list of expensive travel destinations.

Itinerary Overview

This trip took me around some of Australia's most famous destinations and wondrous sights. I got to check out the beaches in North Sydney, the rainforests in Cairns, and the amazing gastronomy and nightlife in Melbourne.

Melbourne Melbourne has a reputation for being the most livable city in the world.

I started off my travels in Melbourne, where I spent the first two days primarily getting over jetlag. Melbourne is a really nice city to walk around and explore, and is well known for its thriving gastronomy scene and popping nightlife. What struck me specifically about Melbourne is how welcoming the locals are! Restaurant owners and bartenders are more than thrilled to greet you, hear about your travel plans, and give you tips about the best places to try a delicious local beer and watch a game of footy, the local sport.

Lodging

  • I stayed with some relatives in the St. Kilda neighborhood. If you're looking for a great hostel, I had many locals recommend one called Melbourne City Backpackers.
