Itinerary Overview

Since our school days, we had this dream with my friends of exploring this part of the world, it seemed so far away, until one day we decided to make it come true.

Malaya is a very popular destination for people from France, for the hospitality of its people, its beauty and also for being known for the good prices that can be found, the only thing a little expensive is the arrival flight, however, we found a good option and decided to go out to know this wonderful place.

the frequency of flights from Europe is high, and in many agencies, you can find all kinds of trips and tours to enjoy in the area, our idea was a trip a little more adventurous and without more plans drawn to risk to know a culture so different from ours.

  • 1 Night: Batu Caves
To have my eyes full of it
  • Day trip: Chinatown Kuala Lumpur
It is a good start to explore the city and its surroundings

I left at 9:30 of my hotel and I came back only 6h later! So careful: there are no trains all the time (every hour or a few times every 30 minutes but it's rare), so I've been waiting for 45 minutes, you should know that the trains often arrive late, then he took 1 hour to make 8 stations (from the station KL Central Fortunately, he has put less time back.

Nevertheless the site is splendid. When you arrive by the train station immediately at the entrance left (just behind the huge green statue) there is an entrance that will cost you 5myr (1 €), it is to do and there are few visitors since it is hidden.

Then a little further, you will find a ticket seller in front of a portal, go there too it will cost you 15myr (3 €), it doesn't look like that outside but it's to do! (snoop around because there are entries without indication everywhere) then finally mount the 272 steps, it's amazing especially the cave all above with his mini temple in the center.

There are many things to do in this district Here is what I did by going down to the station "Pasar Seni": I passed by the Pelanting Street market. It is outside under arcades decorated with a lot of lanterns, it is very pleasant.

A little before arriving on this street you will find the Guandi temple. This Chinese temple is small but superb, the atmosphere is exceptional. Just on the opposite sidewalk you will find the Sri Mahamariammam temple. This Hindu temple has nothing extraordinary except its facade and its huge "dome" filled with sculptures, you can always take a tour inside, it's always pleasant to see the colors and the stories that each sculpture tells.

A little further (5 minutes walk) you will find the "Central Market", there are a lot of small shops mainly composed of handicrafts. On the right side you can go along the market because the street is covered by arcades and there are a lot of traders too.

It is by the way that the Sin Sze Si Ya Temple is located, another small Chinese temple which is the oldest of the city (1883), it seems that time has stopped. Then take the Medan Pasar square which was once the center of Chinatown and you will arrive at the fork of the river where you will have a great view of the Masjid Jamek mosque which contrasts with the towers in the background. It seems to float on a cloud when the misters on the banks are turned on.
