The open sea was rough.

Itinerary Overview

All the guests who booked the trip  were  picked up from their respective hostels/hotels in the early morning.  Then our driver drove two  hours to take us where the speed boat. th e speed boat took about 30 minutes to get to our Boat.  Finally we boarded our boat, and the fun began!  We sailed for three days, island hopping, playing volleyball, snorkeling, and eating delicious home cooked food. One night all the boats met on an island to have a part. Finally on the fourth day we buckled in and rocked our way on the open sea all the way to our final destination; Cartagena.

Approaching Cartagena

The San Blas islands were truly the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen.  The weather was pristine everyday and the water was crystal blue and the sand was pure white. It was so picturesque!   We got to meet some of the local Kuna Yuna people and see how they have maintained their traditional way of life.  We were served home cooked food for dinner on the island by the wonderful chef. When we weren’t Island hopping, playing volleyball, or sun tanning, you couldn’t find us just chilling on the boat rocking to some good tunes.

Cartagena was such a beautiful city! On my second day there, I took a free tour of the city to learn more about the history and how it was discovered. So much went into making it the wonderful tourist attraction that it is. It does have a more European feel to it, with the narrow cobblestone streets and the colorful cafe and restaurant. I really loved the contrast  between the land and sea in Cartagena. You can get a taste of everything there. The old statues and landmarks, the port, and the more modern clubs and bars. I only spent a few days there but I really feel like it is a must see!
