Relaxing vacations in Panama

The trip was very good, in the hotel I was able to rest which was what I wanted and the attention was very good from the hotel staff.

Highs & Lows

The food was very good and there were different options to eat.

The weather was very good, sunny and warm, perfect to enjoy the sea.

Itinerary Overview

We left Bogota, Colombia to Panama by plane, the flight lasted approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, when we arrived at the airport the people from the hotel were waiting for us, we got on the plane and went to the hotel, this trip took approximately 4 hours, since the hotel was far from the city. When we arrived at the hotel they gave us the room key and we arrived at the hotel room, we left our things in the room, we changed and went to eat something in the hotel restaurant. The next day we asked about the tours that were available and we bought one to go to visit the Panama Canal and the center of France. Then we had lunch and went shopping at the MetroMall. It is a very nice hotel, with many pools and places to go to eat, but to go to some of the restaurants you have to pay extra since they differentiate people by a bracelet that gives them access to more premium things, such as drinks, better internet, better places to eat and rest.

That if the hotel is very far from the city so if you plan to go out to know some places walking or going shopping may not be for you, since it is 4 hours from the city of Panama, it is more to go to rest and enjoy with the people you are with.

The food is very good, there are restaurants that depending on your bracelet you can enter or not, but the truth is worth paying the surplus since the food and drinks change a lot of quality, the price to upgrade depends on which you want to choose, but my dad and I were charged between $ 30 to $ 50 dollars per person to make this change.

You can also find wild animals such as iguanas or squirrels, so be very aware of their surroundings because they could meet some of these animals, and also has a fully equipped gym.

To go to the Panama Canal, the hotel offered us a tour that included the visit to the Panama Canal and go shopping at a shopping center, this tour was 1 day, we went first to the Panama Canal since this was the most delayed, when we arrived at the site we got our tickets,  but the price per person starts from 5 to 10 dollars for people not resident in Panama, but if you are a resident it has a cost of 1.50 to 3.00 dollars per person, when we enter the site, they first show us about the history of the Panama Canal, some ships that have passed through there and some species that are in this channel,  when a passes this site has to climb 2 more floors to get to the viewpoint and see the panama channel itself, when we were there, the boats began to pass and one can see the whole process and how the panama channel works, since the gates are in view of all.

Built in 1921 by Leonardo Villanueva Meyer, the main attraction of the square is an 18-meter (60-foot) obelisk. The monument describes the history of the canal and pays tribute to the 22,000 workers and engineers who died, mainly due to disease, while building it. The statues surrounding it show prominent people who participated in the construction at the time of the French participation, and the Gallic rooster sitting on top of the obelisk is one of the national emblems of France.

In addition to the monument, near this square is the Embassy of France and the Paseo Esteban Huertas. There is also a breathtaking view of Panama City Bay, the Bridge of the Americas, and the Amador Causeway. 

Admission to this site is free, but there are people who can explain the importance of that site if you pay them.
