Itinerary Overview
Arrival Mexico
I left Paris on a Friday evening and took a direct plane for Mexico City. I flew with Aeroméxico in a very modern plane, with good food and movie propositions. Once arrived in Mexico, I had a second flight for Léon in the Guanajuato state. The temperature difference was crazy, I had to change clothes at Mexico City's airport! I was flying to Mexico to meet my partner after a few months of not seeing him, I was excited to discover a new country and to see my partner again.
Léon
I did not stay long in Léon because I only had to join my partner before leaving for Yucatán, but from what I saw, people were incredibly nice, the street food was amazing and the whole vibe was so different from Paris! I discovered Takis chips which are until this day my favorite snack ever. I had the chance to enter a Mexican communication university for a day and assist to a conference on the future of communication! I ate my first Mexican breakfast with red beans and eggs, I loved it. This same afternoon I went back to the airport to take a plane to the Est of Mexico, it really was a full day of plane traveling! What I keep as memories from this town is the kindness of people and their welcoming vibes!
Cancun / Tulum
Once arrived in Cancun, we took a taxi to our charming little Airbnb before heading to dinner at a Brazilian meat restaurant. The food was delicious and the service great! We ate way too much, went back to our studio rental, and took a bus heading to Tulum the next morning. We arrived in paradise! I had been planning my few days over there for weeks, and I wasn't disappointed at all. We stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel named Aroma in the town part of Tulum. This hotel was very well designed, every wall was black and the furniture was made of light wood. We visited some beach clubs such as Coco Tulum, some restaurants such as Mi Amor or Azulik where the food and drinks were above anything I could have imagined! Likewise, we visited the Tulum ruins where I did get sunburned from the open chest dress I was wearing!
Guanajuato
Our next and last destination was Guanajuato, the most colorful place I had ever seen before! Every house was beautiful and charming, the people were nice, and the market was incredible! Full of souvenirs and fruits. We stayed in a very central hotel, in which we got to swim in an enjoyable fresh pool and drink cocktails. Groups of musicians would come to us while we were eating in some restaurants and play local music. I brought many souvenirs for my family such as hand-crafted colorful skulls and local tequila! Once again I ate a lot of avocadoes, too many avocadoes. We went on a hike to have a better view of the town, walked through small and colorful streets. Once at the top some locals took a picture of my partner and I in front of this amazing view. Until today, this picture is one of my favorite ever!
