Itinerary Overview

I was with my brother in an Euro trip, this time we went to Montpellier, Lyon and Genève, three amazing cities. We started our France and Switzerland trip in Montpellier. We stayed there at a hotel near the “Place de la Comédie” which is the most iconic place of Montpellier, as we were staying in the heart of the city we didn’t had to use the public transport (just for going to the beach). We stayed there for just one night, the first day we stroll around the Place and the old city, after that we went to the cathedral if you like gothic buildings this is a must! After Montpellier we arrived at Lyon, we have been several times to this amazing city, as we lived there for a while, I can give you advice of everything in Lyon! Places to eat, what to visit, the best hotels or Airbnb for staying. I truly recommend visiting Lyon as it is known as the “Gastronomic capital of France” restaurants there are completely amazing, and you can find the “Halles de Paul Bocuse” which is a food market who offers the finest food, this time in Lyon we stayed at a friend house near Hotel de Ville. Our last stop was Genève in Switzerland, we took a bus for around 10 euros (pretty cheap) and its actually really near Lyon one hour and a half or so. We stayed at a hotel but it was really expensive (everything in Switzerland is) so I recommend going just for the day to Genève, you can visit every touristic place in just one day! We stayed at a hotel just in front of the train station it was called “Hotel Bernina Geneva” it was good but I if you are trying to save money it would be better not to stay.

One of the most iconic places to visit in Montpellier is the Arc de Triomphe also known as the “Porte du Peyrou” is actually really pretty and magnificent, everything is really near and you can walk everywhere, we went to a restaurant called “1789” is a restaurant and bar lounge we totally recommend! It is really pretty and the food is amazing. After lunch we took the tram for going to the beach, we got a bar where we could leave our things while we went to the sea. Finally at night we wanted to party and went to panama café a bar really near our hotel, totally recommended!

Lyon is quite a big city but you can still walk it! There are some must for visiting such as the basilic, the hotel de Ville and place bellecour. Even though some of our favorite plans are walking through the rivers and going to the “Jardin des curiosities” this garden has the prettiest view and it Is not so famous. Also doing a picnic at the “parc de la tete d´or” is an incredible plan. Our favorite restaurant there is “L´entrecote” where the only plate they sale is the famous meat léntrecote totally delicious, and you can’t miss the delicious pastry form every patisserie.

Our last stop was Genève a city totally worth visiting, one of my favorite places there was the lake, and the water jet that soars water, the photos there are incredible. Another important spot to visit is the “Palais des Nations” that it is the center of the diplomacy world, if you like diplomacy you can also visit the Red Cross, Geneve has many international organizations which can be very interesting to visit. We didn’t went to the best restaurants there because Switzerland can be actually very expensive but we can recommend a famous burger shop which was actually delicious and has student discount, it is called “Holy cow” just in front the train station.
