Highs & Lows
The Christmas lights and the vibrant atmosphere of the city
The huge amount of people in Oxford Street and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
My friends and me arrived in London on the evening, so that we could start early visiting around the next morning.
Thursday: We started with a walking tour of the main interests: From Waterloo Metro Station, we walked by Southbank where there is a nice Christmas Market and some foodtrucks. We then stopped to the London Eye and had a ride. You need to go early as this is very crowded. Then, we kept walking, we took the Westminster Bridge until The Big Ben, the Palace of Westminster and the Westminster Abbey. We headed then to St James Park and walked by it until the Palais de Buckingham. During the day, you have different parades with the guards in front of the Palace. We then took the Mall Street and walked to Picadilly Circus and Leicester Square, where you can stop at the Hard Rock Café and M&M's World. Then, we headed to Covent Garden, there is a nice indoor market. Also, the metro station of Covent Garden has the more stairs of all other stations, you better take it to go down than up. :) During this walk, you have different bars, restaurants and cafés to stop for a drink or a meal. We then, took the metro to the London Bridge and visited the surrondings. On the evening, we went to watch the musical of the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance!
Friday: We booked a one day tour to the Harry Potter Set which is situated outside London. We took the train from London Euston to Watford Junction and then a bus to the Warner Bros Studio. If you are a Harry Potter fan, this tour is a must-do! On the evening, we went to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. There are many many people and there is usually a big queue to enter the Park. We had dinner there, some drinks and ice-skated.
Saturday: In the morning, we went to the Bricklane market, which is situated in the Indian neighbourhood of London. And on the afternoon, we went to Camden Town, where there is also a nice market and a nice food truck place to eat. At the end of the day, we went to do some shopping in Oxford Street and see the Christmas lights. Then, we went to have dinner at the Churchill Arms Pub, which is located on Church Street. The building is covered with fir and Christmas lights. You have to book a table many days in advance, otherwise you will never be able to eat there! It's a very very popular and crowed place!
Sunday: In the morning, we went to walk in the neighbourhood of Nothing Hill and visited the Portobello Market. Then, it was time to leave this beautiful city.
