Five days in the South of France

Certain parts of the South of France are charming and worth visiting; others are nice but not incredibly charming. Hotel-du-Cap is a must-visit, even if you don't stay there.

Highs & Lows

Day trip to Monte Carlo!

Cannes was mostly rainy and didn't have a ton of character. I wish I had stayed in St. Tropez instead.

Itinerary Overview

Spent a few days exploring Cannes, shopping, and going to the beach. Took one day trip to Hotel-du-Cap Eden Roc and another to Monaco, which were both awesome and made me wish we were staying somewhere that wasn't Cannes.

When thinking about this place I always had high expectations as it is very famous all over the world.

However, when I got there it was not what I expected

Had some great dinners in Cannes, but generally felt like the area was lacking in culture and charm. Lots of big chain stores, very few museums, not much to do when it's rainy and not a perfect beach day.

A nice restaurant to visit: La Môme, I really enjoy the food there

Monte-Carlo is breathtaking. The mixture of classical and contemporary architecture is to die for, and learning about the culture and politics of the small nation was fascinating. I wish we had stayed longer!

A sunny day at the beach walks in the evening among the shops and a lot of culture in the museums you can find all the information depending on your tastes.

My favorite New National museum of Monaco

Hotel du Cap Eden Roc might be the most incredible place I have ever been. The food is divine, the view unreal, and it is the most relaxing and elegant oasis I have ever seen.

The actual town of Antibes leaves much to be desired, but the hotel is like something out of another century. Very overpriced, but almost worth it.

In town, you can walk and rest around its coast, enjoy a sunset or simply let yourself be delighted by its landscapes.
