Itinerary Overview

When we arrived at the Cancun airport we set out to find transportation to the hotel that was located in the hotel Zone (area) the locals call Zona Hotelera, wich is around 18 kilometers from the airport. They offered us transportation with a taxi company for $ 50 dollars but we thought that that price was a bit expensive, we kept walking and another company offered us the round trip transportation service for $ 45 dollars so without thinking more We decided to take it with them, which at the time seemed like a very good offer.

The hotel Occidental Costa Cancun its All inclusive family-friendly resort The hotel has 3 restaurants, 2 bars, Spa, gym, and a 300m long beach. Some of the rooms have sea view and have a terrace or balcony, air conditioning, TV. With cable. Check-in: 3:00 p.m. and check-out: 12:00 p.m. as we arrived at night we decided to go down to the bar to have a drink and enjoy the hotel show, they offer live shows activities and performances that include the whole family every night, very fun.

first day we decided to enjoy the hotel's beach and pool.

Since we started planning our visit to Cancun, we knew what places we wanted to visit. Chichén Itzá, Valladolid, Xcatert, Cozumel y Tulum.

Cozumel: is a very small island where there is a main street full of shops and bars, it is recommended to go to this island for people who like to dive and snorkel

Xcaret: Tickets to the park are recommended to buy them on the official website. There are different prices, we decided to buy the plus ticket that includes Transport, lunch, Diner and drinks, locker service and snorkeling equipment.

The park has an ecological environmental policy that we love, it does not allow the entry of non-biodegradable sunscreen. the ticket we buy includes most of the attractions. You can enjoy different activities all day and when night comes the show is spectacular, the ticket that we got includes dinner during the closing show.

In the morning they picked us up around 7:00 am and we returned to the hotel around 11:00 pm.

Chichén Itzá: To visit Chichén Itzá we bought the package on the official website offered by Chichén Itzá, in addition to Valladolid and one of the  Cenote.

They picked us up at 7.30 am from the hotel and from there we headed to Chichén Itzá, which means "mouth of the well of the hitases" by allusion to the great natural well that exists there and in which ceremonies were held in honor of Chaac the Mayan God of rain.

We arrived around 10.30 am and from there with a guide to tour the ruins, it was 40 degrees, we have to bring a lot of water (the package we bought included breakfast and drinks) and a hat to withstand the heat. We arrive at El Castillo, also known as the Kukulcán pyramid, which has 364 steps that added to the platform of the top represent 365 days a year, but it is not allowed to climb.

After Chichén Itzá we went to Valladolid there we had lunch (included in the package we bought) in one of the most emblematic restaurants, the food is very tasty, in general Mexican cuisine is full of flavor and color.

Valladolid is a city in the state of Yucatan, recognized for its colonial architecture. Then we went to Cenote Zaci, there we couldn't swim because the time of the excursion was to short for that place.

we return to the hotel around 9 at night.

Although Tulum was in our plans, we decided not to go, and we better stayed to enjoy what Cancun offered us, we went to eat in local markets, we did many walking tours and in general people say that Cancun is not very safe for tourist we never felt In danger, recommendation bring US dollars and only some Mexican pesos, it is not a good deal to change to Mexican pesos because in all places they receive US dollars.

Going to Valladolid is an experience that transports you to the past and makes you learn a bit more about the colonial architecture, its streets are full of color. Valladolid is the second most important city in the state of Yucatan and was one of the first colonial cities in the American continent, the historical importance is enormous, this city witnessed countless historical events. Historical landmarks that are reflected in murals that are inside the municipal palace.  Free entry! In the main square there are some chairs that are called confidantes chairs and history says that it is where couples sit down to talk looking into each other's eyes. I recommend the restaurant La casona de Valladolid, 10 out of 10. Just 20 minutes by car you can find the Cenotes
