Bristol - the home of Banksy and the UK's most exciting nightlife

Bristol is a city that feels separate from the rest of the UK. The individuality of its art scene and the people, combine to make this city a must visit in the UK.

Itinerary Overview

The truth is that I have spent a large portion of my adult life in Bristol, having spent three years there whilst at University. However, what I found in my most recent trips to Bristol, is that it’s importance to both the individuality of the south and indeed the rest of the country, cannot be understated. It blends its diverse art scene with an equally diverse ethnic demographic, combining to create the essence of Bristol that won‘t swallow you up, in the same way London can.

Add to that its stunning architecture, a cultured food scene and sprawling-city-wide Banksy murials, what you find is a gem; which is small in size, but has the all-encompassing feel of a place that has it all.

It’s an area close to my heart, the musical heart of my youth

Stokes Croft ticks all the boxes for a wild night on the town. With a fusion of reggae, drum and bass, house, techno, disco and even rock; it offers up a delicious cocktail of diverse musical fun. Shake your hips to disco, sway to the melodic rhythms of reggae or release your inner animal to drum and bass. Whatever your musical taste, chances are Stokes Croft will offer you up something to make you smile.

As we all know, an important part of a night out is what drunken food you’ll be devouring afterwards and fear not, much like it’s music scene, Stokes Croft has it all. From pizza to curried goat and all the doner kebabs in between. Indulge and enjoy.

If Stokes Croft is the antithesis of upper class Britain, Clifton perfectly molds into that category. The stunning limestone architecture, boutique stores and of course its monumental suspension bridge, add such an allure to Bristol that can make you feel like you’re in a different city entirely.

Q & A

  • What would you have changed?

Well perhaps I’m biased but, nothing! However if I was pushed for an answer, the weather, of course.
  • Anything go wrong during the trip?

Drinking too much and suffering the consequences the following day.. but if this happens then get yourself out-and-about and let the fresh air cleanse you.
  • Restaurant recommendations?

Park Street and The Kings Road have great options, but go to Clifton if you fancy a sophisticated dining experience.
  • Tips you would give a friend?

Bristol’s not a big city, so I’d recommend 4-5 days stretched across a weekend, in order to experience the cities rich nightlife.
  • Packing tips?

Always bring a waterproof jacket, it is in England after all.
  • Transportation Tips?

The transportation is fantastic. Buses are an easy way to get around but if you want a more comfortable ride than there are plenty of Uber and Ola Cabs drivers to help.
  • Any surprises?

The stamina of the people to party deep into the early hours of the morning.
