Highs & Lows

The beaches are really beautiful!

From a big city to small towns, so a couple of days will be enough.

Itinerary Overview

I arrived to Barcelona and stayed for two days. It is really the most beautiful city in Spain. The first day I went to lunch to a place called La Tasqueta De Blai. It's really goof because it's a buffet type of restaurant so you have a great variety. After that I went to the famous Plaza de Toros, La Monumental. It's architecture is simply amazing. The day ended in a local pub near our apartment, eating Tapas. The second day was all about touring the city. We decided to go to Las Ramblas, which is a huge set of streets in the city with different restaurants, markets and a lot of people and great energy. We took our lunch in a great little restaurant and ate the famous Paella! Then we headed to the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, which is absolutely impressive, its a must all the way. That night we went to La Barceloneta, which is a neighborhood just by the beach, with a great nightlife. People go out to dance, have a drink, hang out with friends. The next morning we headed to the bus station and headed to Lloret de Mar.

We just went for the day to Lloret de Mar. It is an hour bus ride. The town is really beautiful and as it it just by the sea the views are the best part of it all. We had lunch in a very known restaurant called Il Cedro! The lamb was delicious. We walked around the city, visited Santa Clotilde Gardens and then headed to Tossa de Mar.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights in Tossa de Mar and I can honestly say it's one of the most charming places I've been. The first day we arrived at 5 pm so while we got to the hotel and checked in we just had time to go to a restaurant and walk around. There are a lot of choices to eat, we went to a place that sells Tapas, which is an Spanish appetizer, small portions but if you order 4 or 5 to share it can be perfect for a light dinner. The next day we went walking to the beach and we rented a snorkel, the weather was perfect and we had an amazing experience. You can actually see little fish while snorkeling and its really safe. We then headed to an Italian restaurant an had a great late lunch. Lastly, we walked all around just to see how very street has its own magic. The next day we went to the beach again, had breakfast and headed to Barcelona.

We just went for the day to Lloret de Mar. It is an hour bus ride. The town is really beautiful and as it is just by the sea the views are the best part of it all. We had lunch in a very known restaurant called Il Cedro! This is an Italian restaurant, and its prices are not that high. So you can really enjoy a good dinner at a good price. In my personal experience the Tagliatelle al Pesto and lamb were the most delicious. We walked around the city, visited Santa Clotilde Gardens. This last attraction is really beautiful. The art and sculptures that can be found are all inspired in the renaissance so you can really find a lot of history behind them.  This is a small town so there's really no need to have a car or anything. Every place can be reached within walking distance.

I personally had a really good time. It's good to go with friends because it's a small town. The weather was perfect and the beaches were beautiful. It is great if you go in the summer because the water is kind of cold so it’s the perfect refreshment for a hot summer day. I really enjoyed the variety of food that you can found, also the Spanish specialities are to die for and I highly recommend trying the traditional dishes, as you will find in every Spanish city, there’s a great variety of Tapas. Which is small bite food, so you can order a bunch of them and try a great variety of dishes. I really enjoyed snorkeling, so I highly recommend it. Most hotels give you the option to rent it for the day or so. It is a really nice experience because you can see a lot of fishes and it is not at all risky.

Q & A

  • What would you have changed?

I would have stayed at least 2 more nights in Barcelona! It has so much to visit.
  • Anything go wrong during the trip?

We had to change hotels in Tossa de Mar because they were fully booked.
  • Restaurant recommendations?

Spectacular. I highly recommend to try the Tapas, in any restaurant you go. Near the shore you can find a wide variety of restaurants.
  • Transportation Tips?

If you're going from Barcelona be sure to check the bus ticket and pay attention at every stop. You can be confused because the bus stops at Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar.
  • Booking details?

Be sure to book the hotel with anticipation in Tossa de Mar. It's possible that if you go in the summer most of them are fully booked and it can be really hard to find a good one at a reasonable price.

Lodging

  • I stayed at a Friend's apartment, it is a really good idea since you can save some money for the rest of the trip.

  • Hotel at the center of the city called Villa Mar. We had a great stay, the place was clean and they had breakfast included.
