Highs & Lows

There are a lot of thing to do

The weather was cold

Itinerary Overview

My family and I went on a trip to Barcelona and it went great!. We flew at the end of April but the weather was really cold, not windy, but cold so we decided to go to the place we rented in AirBnb. The apartment was ubicated In a little township called “El Prat De Llobregat” and It was just beautiful. Since It was too cold, the owner of the apartment let us use the heating, and I was really impressed because the heating system made the entire floor warm, they even had a towel warmer, and apparently that was something really common In the whole town!. However we wanted to get to know everything from Barcelona, so we started our day early to visit some places and then we went back to our apartment so we could get some sleep. Our apartment was actually really close to the metro station, and “El prat de Llobregat” itself was just 3 stations away from Barcelona’s downtown. Now talking about Barcelona itself, we visited all the touristic places like the Stadium, the Museums, “La sagrada Familia”, etc, and if I learnt something about Barcelona, is that the whole city it’s a work of art! So if you want to take a bus tour through the City, that is a great idea.

In terms of food, I didn't get the chance to try a typical dish, but as a funny fact, there were a lot of bakeries, everywhere you go you’ll see a bakery or a coffee house, so there’s always a nice place to grab a bite.

Everyday we had different plans so our stay in Barcelona was fun and entertained, and although the weather was really cold, I will always remember our trip to Barcelona as one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

We stayed in an apartment located in a little Township called “El prat de Llobregat” and I would describe this town as a fairy tale, The streets are really big but you’ll hardly ever see a car, and there is a beautiful playground that was full of kids. Once we woke up at 7am and saw everyone go out with jackets and gloves to open their little business and greet each other like it was their routine,It seemed magical. Also there is this really big bakery nearby with all kinds of muffins, cupcakes and croissants, it was my first time trying a chocolate croissant. It's totally worth it.

In my opinion, Barcelona is not the stereotype of the beach city, Things don't revolve around the beach, and the sea was really cold anyways, but Maria, the owner of the floor told us we should go on a ride through the beach, and we loved the idea,so the very next day we woke up early and walked to the bike rental place, that was relatively near to the apartment, there were a lot of places to choose, but we decided to go with Maria’s friend, He had three beautiful bikes but they were occupied, apparently this ride is a common activity, while waiting we went to one of those bakeries I told you about before, and once the bikes were free we started the tour, It’s a really cool activity, because you can go on your own speed, and since the rent it’s about the time, you can stay at the beach if you want to, the view was beautiful and there were some viewpoints in the road where we took some pictures.

I bet you’ve heard about La Sagrada Familia or the Park Güell, but have you heard about La Plaza de Sant Felip well, honestly I didn’t know about it until I visited it. When we went to Barcelona, we talked with a friend who lived there, and he told us he had a plan just for us, so when the day came we went to La Barceloneta to meet with him, and he said he would take us to the Plaza de Sant Felip and then to MontJuic to see the lights show at the fountain, we were really excited, so we went for it!. When we got to the plaza the first thing I saw was this really big grey wall with little holes in it, It looked kind of gothic but I found it really cool. While we walked, our friend told us the story of that place, during Franco’s regime there was a slaughter in that place, more specifically in the church where the kids hid, and sadly a lot of them died, but I thought it was really interesting to know that place and its story, after that we had to run a little bit so we could reach out the show, but we did, a lot of people gathered to watch the show, and it was amazing, if you get a little closer you’ll feel the water drops, It was a really nice experience, but the show it’s exclusively the weekends.
