Highs & Lows

Finding a secluded beach for climbing.

We went in February so a lot of places were shut due to it not being a good time of year for tourist reliant places.

Itinerary Overview

We got a plane early in the morning from Manchester Airport which took just over 2 hours. From airport we got a shuttle bus to the car rental company we were using. Considering it was February the temperature was actually very warm, however, there was definitely a but of a chilly breeze at times but I think that’s typical of Mallorca anyway as it’s an island. The hotel we stayed at was situated in Palma Nova and was less than a five minute walk to the beautiful beach. Palma nova is definitely a party town in the summer as it’s very easy to tell due to all the takeaways and party hotels in the area. The four days consisted of driving around the amazing scenery and finding little spots we could enjoy ourselves in without a lot of people.

The city of Palma was a 30 minute car ride from the hotel in Palma Nova and home to its stunning cathedral. The cathedral itself was sat next to the old town of Palma which was littered with little restaurants, coffee shops and seafood markets. The entry fee was only about €8 and there was no time limit to oook around the cathedral so you could take in everything inside and also take the time to read about the history of the place.

A lovely small town filled with seafood restaurants, cocktail bars and places for entertainment. Five minutes walk from the hotel we stayed at are three consecutive beaches that are absolutely lovely and the views are amazing (they were a lot better than we expected). There’s also a lot of shops around the area so if your on a self catering holiday like we were there are plenty of places to get supplies that are very reasonably priced.

Q & A

  • What would you have changed?

I would have gone for longer as I feel I didn’t get to see enough of the island. Also I would go during the summer months too because when we went in February a lot of the very touristy places were shut as well as a lot of restaurants and it also limits the stuff you can do.
  • Restaurant recommendations?

Don’t go to the first restaurant you find that you think looks good because there are always so many more places that are worth trying that you’ll end up finding after you’ve already eaten/drank.
  • Transportation Tips?

Definitely look at renting a car while you go. It’s 100% worth it and it means you can get around the whole island and there are so many places worth looking at.

Lodging

  • Aquasol Aparthotel - The accommodation is basic for the cheaper price that you pay. The hotel itself is lord of a party hotel definitely for young people in the summer. However there’s lots to do around so you won’t get bored.
