Highs & Lows

The Beatles bus tour

Food and drinks tend to be quite expensive in the more well recognised areas.

Itinerary Overview

We arrived at Liverpool Lime Street by train in the afternoon, the hotel (Quest) that we were staying in was only a two minute walk from the train station and was situated right in the centre of Liverpool. There was so many things for us to do in Liverpool from hundreds of amazing looking bars and restaurants for us to visit to various bus tours and shops. We took a walk down to the harbour where on the way we stopped by a few shops including a lovely little chinese shop with some bery cool things inside and also one out of only two Pull & Bear shops in the UK. As we got to the dock the views were lovely across the water as you can see so far in both directions of the river. There was the Beatles Story museum and Tate art museum (which is a must do).

On the second day we decided to take quite a relaxing approach as we were there on a little city getaway and we wanted to just find a few nice places for a drink and some foody bits, and we ended up finding more than our fair share. Everywhere you go theres little meandering side streets with quirky little bars or rooftops terraces you can sit on and enjoy the view. All in all I think Liverpool is definitely one of my favourite cities in the UK and I will definitely be returning.

After our busy first day me and my partner decided to put our feet up and relax for the second day in Liverpool. We walked around the city center for a while and eventually went down a side street leading to a row of lovely looking bars. The one that caught our eye was the Mamasan bar and restaurant as it had a lovely rooftop terrace to sit on and enjoy the view. Everything about this restaurant was amazing from top to bottom. The drinks and food were outstanding. The only issue I had with the restaurant was that the items on the menu are quite pricey.

On our first day in Liverpool we decided to take a trip to the Tate museum at the waterfront. The entry to the exhibit was free and you had to pay £5 to see the private exhibits. There were three rooms that we could enter with the free entry pass but there was enough art there to see for well over an hour. Every thing in the exhibit was completely different to everything else and you can see people’s views if the world from all different walks of life. It’s truly amazing.

Q & A

  • Restaurant recommendations?

I would highly recommend the Mamasan restaurant if you don’t mind paying a bit more for a meal. (Try and go on a sunny day to make sure you get a seat on the rooftop terrace).
  • Tips you would give a friend?

Take quite a bit of spending money because you will most likely spend more than you hope to when you are there.
  • Booking details?

I would highly recommend using booking.com to get the best deals on a lot of places and also to book in advance and there is a lot of demand round the city centre so a lot of places will most likely be booked up close to when you want to go.
