Old Town Square Christmas Market

We took a weekend trip from Warsaw to Wroclaw to visit a Christmas Market and some museums. Wroclaw is a great place for a weekend, there are plenty of places to visit all year long. In winter months I recommend to take advantage of the Christmas spirit and enjoy yourself on a Christmas Market. There are plenty of activities for children but also adults. Take a stroll among food stalls, do some shopping and admire lovely lights if you go in the evening.

If you're looking for something to do during the day, Wroclaw has your back. Here are two museums that we visited to escape the cold during the day:

- Racławice Panorama - it's a monumental cycloramic painting depicting the Battle of Racławice. A pretty special little museum very close to the Old Town. The tour takes half an hour and you have to book a ticket in advance, you will get an audio guide when you get there that will explain the history, etc.
- Hydropolis - a science museum dedicated to water. It's a bit further from the city center (half an hour walk) but it's totally worth visiting. Plan 2 hours to see everything.

Q & A

  • Anything go wrong during the trip?

We had some issues with our Airbnb but it was resolved.
  • Restaurant recommendations?

    - Oliwa i Ogień - great Italian restaurant - Chmiel kawę - lovely cafe in the Old Town with specialty coffee - OTO Coffee Bar - Kwiaty Kawy - a lovely cafe with a flower shop inside. On Sundays they do a nice bufet brunch - Ato Ramen Wro - Wilk Syty
  • Packing tips?

Make sure you check the weather forecast before going. If you go in winter, pack some warm clothes as it can get very cold in Poland in winter.
  • Transportation Tips?

If you stay in the center everything is pretty walkable. We used Uber to get to Hydropolis Museum and walked back to the Old Town.
