Highs & Lows

Food everywhere was awesome

We travelled during the summer time, it was extremely hot.

Itinerary Overview

I love to travel with my parents and we always try to meet new places and learn from other cultures, in this trip we decided to go to Barcelona, were we had been before, and for a new adventure we decided to go to two beautiful cities in a country we had never been, Porto and  Lisbon in Portugal. The first stop in our  Spain and Portugal 2 week itinerary was Barcelona, where one of my aunts’ lives. We decided to go from Bogota to Barcelona, the flight is pretty long, about 12 hours, but it is definitely worth it. We stayed there for about 3 days and then travel by plane to Porto in Portugal, the flight was about 2 hours long. We stayed there for about 4 days on an AirBnB and it was really nice, but also extremely hot.

The next stop was the beautiful city of Lisbon which is Portugal´s capital city. We travelled there by train which is a really recommendable way of travelling. You can enjoy different views which would be impossible to see traveling by plane. In Lisbon we also stayed at an AirBnB, we had the opportunity to see amazing places. Go to the beach and learn a lot about the Portuguese culture and history, also the food was awesome and people were really nice and kind with the tourist.

Finally we went back to Barcelona where we had the chance to enjoy the city better than the last time, because we were jet lagged and looking forward to go to a new country. We always have an amazing time there, the beach, music, food, people, places, everything is really nice. Also, it is really awesome to hear people speaking in Catalan.

It was a great trip, beautiful experience, amazing food, people and views; for sure you will love this places!

Barcelona is my favourite place in the world, I love everything about it. We have been there a few times, but it never stops to amaze me. We visited the Sagrada Familia which is so beautiful and huge, the Ramblas which is a famous street of Barcelona where is really nice to walk and the see the street artists and performers. We also visited Park Güell, where the view of the city is amazing and you are able to see the Mediterranean Ocean from there is really nice. Finally we went to the beach, even thought there was a lot of people there because it was the summer time and was extremely hot we had an amazing time there. Also, we were able to go to the Diada’s celebration, which is Catalonia’s celebration day, it was wonderful to see how much people love and celebrate it.

The first day in Porto we arrived in the afternoon and decided to go to leave our luggage at the place we were staying, after that we decided to go to eat something nearby and start exploring a little bit.

The second day, it was awesome because there was an event we did not have any idea  was going to happen, it was the Red Bull Air Race, that was a great experience because I had never seen something like that before. People were extremely excited, but it was really hot.

Finally we went to Dom Luís I, which is really high and the view of the city from there is wonderful.

We went from Porto to Lisbon by train, it was about 3 hours long, but the views where really nice, and there was food on the train, so it was not bad at all. When we arrived we decided to leave our luggage and go and explore a little bit. The next day we decided to book one of the touristic buses hop on hop off, which is a great option because you are able to see the city while learning because on the bus there is an audio guide in a lot of languages for you to understand everything. It also gives you the option to get off the bus on the places you are interested the most. We went to a lot of touristic places like the Belém Tower, the Santa Justa Lift, and my favourite one, Praça do Comércio and they were all great!
