Itinerary Overview

My husband and I planned a trip to Israel and Egypt, it wasn’t our first time in Israel but it’s a country we love visiting, food and vibes are amazing there! Our trip started from Bogotá to Frankfurt around 13 hours and then Frankfurt- Tel aviv 4 hours long. When we arrived at Tel-Aviv our daughter was already waiting for us at the hotel, we stayed 3 nights at Tel-Aviv but we visited other cities such as Jerusalem and Caesarea. Next we traveled from Tel-Aviv to Sharm el Sheik it was around 6 hours long because we had to stop at Eilat, at Sharm we stayed 2 nights in a hotel near the center, there we visited the Mohammed national park and walked around the old market this was a great experience cause the market is full of colors, sounds and you can smell al the herbs and spices. It was our first time in Egypt and it was great seeing a completely different culture, we learned a lot from them. Our last stop was El Cairo we took an airplane which was about one hour long but you can rent a car or bus which is much cheaper and not so long it takes around 5 hours. There we didn’t stay near the center but it wasn’t far the town was called Giza about 9 minutes by car, at Cairo we stayed three nights. One of our favorite things at Cairo was the Market “Khan el Khalili” you can find the locals there and perceive the different cultures trough the colors, smells and happiness, in the middle of the market there is a café called “Naguib Mahfouz” where you can eat and drink local food with a local ambience. Finally, last night we took a Catamaran trough the Nilo river where we had dinner, a plan I recommend to everyone!

We didn’t stay properly at Tel-Aviv but it was quite near, just 35 min by car, the town is called Netanya and the hotel was West lagoon in front of the sea, so the view was perfect! We woke up early and went to Jerusalem a city that has a lot of meaning for us because we are catholic. We walked around the old city, visited the western wall and the mount of olives, next day we went to Caesarea which is actually very near Tel aviv, we walked trough the park and the last day we enjoyed Tel aviv food and views.

As our first stop in Egypt was Sharm el Sheikh we decided to stay in a hotel near the center of the city, one of the best spots there was Al Mustafa it is a mosque with an incredible architecture inside and outside, also you can perceive the meaning and the vibes it has for the locals, getting to know the culture from different points of view such as the religion is important for us when we travel. Of course food is main for us, so we tried something called “Koftas” its basically veal and lamb meat in shape of balls with lots of herbs and spices, they were really good and tasty you can feel every herb in it!

The first day we took a bus to the pyramids of Giza it was quite near the hotel, we were there for 4 hours as it was a long walk, we entered to one of the pyramids but you have to pay, we also had the opportunity to ride camel and it was a great, quite scary as it was our first time. Its shocking seeing these enormous structures with details, imagining how they did it many centuries ago. After the pyramids we went to the sphinx which is an important monument that it is also impressive seeing it, because of its magnitude.
