Highs & Lows

There were plenty of fun things to do

Big Ben was in restoration, there were a lot of things around it so we were not able to see it completely.

Itinerary Overview

For a long time my dream was to go to England, so having the opportunity to go there with my parents was amazing. We travelled from Bogotá to London, the flight was about 13 hours long, which in my opinion is a lot, so when we arrived we were extremely tiered because of the many hours on the plane and also due to the jet lag, as a result even though we arrived to London in the afternoon we went to sleep to get some energy and when we woke up we went nearby to eat something, after that we went back to rest and be ready for exploring the days to come.

After discovering London for a few days, we had planned to go to other cities in England, one of them Cambridge, we travelled by train, the ride was about 2 hours and a half, it was really beautiful to see the English landscapes during the ride. When we got to Cambridge my first impression was that it was a lovely city, although it was sunny, it was not really hot. We stayed there for about 4 days; Cambridge is a beautiful small city, full of international students, it is really nice to see the Cam river across the city.

After that, we went from Cambridge to Brighton also by train, the ride was about 2 hours and a half too. We had planned to stay there for 4 days; although when we arrived Brighton was pretty cloudy and cold for what we expected, we had an awesome time there, it is really beautiful, it was really cool to go to the pier and see the sea.

Finally, we travelled from Brighton back to London by train (about 1 hour and a half long) and stayed there for about two days and then travelled back to Colombia. It was an amazing trip which I’ll never forget!

Exploring London was one of the best experiences ever!. It is a huge city with a lot of places to discover. We were extremely excited to see the Big Ben, but it was under renovations, anyway, it was awesome to see it in person. We visited a lot of great places, like Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, London Eye and others. I loved to see all of the famous red phone booths and learned a lot about English culture and history. It was a little bit cold and it rainy but we had an amaing time there, I really look forward to go back to that great city.

When we arrived to the train station  it was really sunny and beautiful. Cambridge is definitely not as big as London, but is really nice, although my parents and I decided to take one of the hop on – hop off buses to learn a little bit more about the history of the city and the university, Cambridge is a city which can be explored by walking because it is not that big, and it has a lot of little charming small corners where is not possible to get to if you are on a bus or in a car. Also, you can take a boat ride on the Cam River and see the city and the university from a different perspective.

We really loved Brighton eventhough the weather was not the best. My favorite place was the pier, it is really big and has lots of attractions like Rolling coasters and a lot of games to enjoy, also there are a lot of  places of different types of food there, everyone can have a great a time on the pier!

Another thing I loved in Brighton was that while we were exploring the city we found a group of people wearing masks and with laptops on their hands, they were showing really explicit videos about the truth of the food industry and they were trying to make people more concious about this topics. It was an eye opening experience and I was really happy to have seen that in Brighton. And also we went to the beach, it was too cold to get in the wáter but it was really nice to see the sea.
